Kingfisher School

Governance

The Governors are members of the Local Governing Body which is a sub-committee of the Propeller Academy Trust.  Our Local Governing Body is responsible to the Trust for supporting the effective running of the school, both financially and educationally. On a day-to-day basis, the Headteacher assumes this responsibility although advice and support from Governors as our “critical friends” is always available to the Head.

The Local Governing Body meets regularly to discuss the Headteacher’s report and all matters which have a direct bearing on the school.  The Minutes of each meeting (except for confidential items) are available for parents on request.

The Local Governing Body also has several committees and these include:

  • Resources
  • Curriculum and Parents

Recommendations from the committees are considered at the full meetings of the Local Governing Body and the Trust.  Some Governors have particular responsibility for areas of the curriculum.  Other Governors have particular responsibilities, e.g. Child Protection.  All Governors visit classes each year.

Members of the Local Governing Body are appointed by the Trust and include parents and members of staff.  The Trust runs both Kingfisher School and Fitzwaryn School in Wantage, supported by the Abingdon and Witney College.

The Chair of the Local Governing Body (Terry Stock) can be contacted at any time through the School Office.

Details of the current Governing Body can be found via the links below.
